Presentation inscription on front endpaper: "Edward Alfred M. Barrett, that he may "continue Christ's faithful servant & soldier unto his life' ends" is the earnest prayer of his ever affectionate godmother Henrietta Cook, Sep 13th 1860". Edward Alfred Moulton-Barrett (1859-1932) was Alfred Price Barrett Moulton-Barrett's son, and therefore Elizabeth Barrett-Browning's nephew. Henrietta Cook was Elizabeth's sister.
