Queen Victoria were written by the three most recent prizemen of the prizes for modern languages given by H.R.H. the Prince Consort on the occasion of the visit of H.M. the Queen and the Prince Consort to Eton College in July 1851, when the great [?] in Hyde park had been recently opened. After speeches in Upper school were over, Byng and Vernon (Cowell being ill) were called up and presented to the Queen and the Prince Consort".
