Note
Plate [1] is dated 1 October 1809, and [2-3] are dated 1 January 1810. Plate V includes images of hoofs made in 1808, 1809 and 1810, and the accompanying text was evidently written no earlier than 1810. On page 93 the author says "I this year, 1811, ordered my own bay mare to be shod". A copy at Trinity College, Oxford, is printed on paper with the dates 1808, 1809, 1810 and 1811 sequentially in the watermark. Thus, it seems that the work was issued in parts between 1809 (the date of the title page) and around 1812.
