Ex-libris of Thomas Godwin, Bishop of Bath & Wells (1517-1590). Pencil note on flyleaf giving details of Godwin and also reference to Fb.7.01. ECL holds another copy of Dioscorides owned by Godwin (at Fc.2.03) - according to the ODNB, Godwin practiced medicine to support his family during the reign of Mary I.

16th century brown calf; front board shows panel of the ara coeli vision, with cipher in shield IN (i.e. Jean Norvins) Weale R519. Back cover shows panel of St. Bernard & Sibyls, Weale R520; for description see Hobson, "Blind stamped panels". Front board very worn and volume has been rebacked.
