Object history note

Jerwood Applied Arts Prize for Jewellery, 2007.

Label

The final collaborative Jerwood Applied Arts Prize was jointly awarded to jewellers Adam Paxon and Susan Cross. These works are an intriguing example of Paxon's mainly one-off pieces of acrylic jewellery which take influence from organic form and nature's colourful language of warning and courtship. Since gaining a BA Hons Jewellery from Middlesex University, London (1991-1994), Paxon has been awarded numerous prizes over the years including the Herbert Hoffman Prize. "These glossy wet rings are fully functional, wearable jewellery pieces. I'm also interested in their value as objects in their own right. I try to give them a dual identity and often see them as creatures to wear" - Adam Paxon.
