Label

The 'Hollow-form series' uses electrforming to create seam-free three-dimensional pieces that are repeatedly enamelled in the round. The layered enamel is selectively rubbed back to reveal hidden colours and marks. Based in Bristol, Turrell creates tactile and intimate jewellery that encourages touch through ambiguous and expressive material qualities. The 'Hollow-form series' resulted from her AHRC fellowship at the University of the West of England exploring the place of enamel in contemporary jewellery practice. "I seek to create evocative objects that might stir an emotional connection and thus give pleasure ... akin to the private enjoyment of finding an interesting stone on a walk and treasuring it as a small, unexpected prize". - Jessica Turrell ---- New Acquisitions Display 'Collect' 2012
